Project Fairywood

This kitchen began as a dark, dated space straight out of the 1970s. The layout felt tight, the finishes felt heavy, and the room didn’t reflect the personality of the homeowner who lives here. The goal was simple but ambitious: brighten the space, make it feel visually larger, and design something that felt joyful, expressive, and unmistakably personal. The transformation started with a thoughtful mix of cabinetry. Warm wood lowers bring depth and character, while crisp white uppers lighten the visual weight and help the room breathe. New quartz countertops reflect natural light throughout the space, instantly making the kitchen feel brighter and more expansive.

From there, we leaned into color. A saturated teal wall anchors the room and sets the tone for the entire design story. Glossy tile backsplash adds subtle texture, while the patterned floor tile introduces a playful rhythm that carries the eye across the space and adds that perfect dose of whimsy. Updated fixtures, streamlined hardware, and modern appliances brought the kitchen fully into the present without losing its personality. A wallpaper accent wall completes the space, layering in pattern and reinforcing the client’s love for quirky, expressive design.

The result is a kitchen that feels bigger, brighter, and full of character; a space that balances thoughtful design decisions with just the right amount of fun.
